what are the main differences between SAT and ACT?

  1. The time in SAT is longer

  2. The SAT is out of 1600 while ACT is out of 36.

  3. The SAT has 154 questions unevenly divided into four sections. The ACT has a total of 175 questions unevenly divided into four sections.

English

  • The reading section contains 52 questions in 65 minutes.

  • The writing section contains 44 questions in 35 minutes.

Math

  • The non-calculator section contains 20 questions in 25 minutes.

  • The calculator section contains 38 questions in 55 minutes.

No science

Essay(optional)

  • 50 minutes to write an analysis about an author's claim from a speech, detailed information and other

ACT

English

  • The English section contains 75 question in 45 minutes.

  • The reading section contains 40 question in 35 minutes.

Math

  • 60 questions in 60 minutes.

Science

  • 40 questions in 35 minutes

Essay(optional)

  • You are asked to write a prompt in 100 minutes (1 hour and 40 minutes).
