The Preliminary SAT, also known as the NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a preparation version of the SAT exam. You can only take the PSAT once per year, and most students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade.

The SAT is your main focus, it is divided into four sections: math, reading, writing and language, and an optional essay, whether you take the essay or not depends on the college.
